Grass Americas US manufacturing facility is located in the mild climate area of Kernersville, NC. Relocation benefits are available.


  • PROGRESSIVE METAL STAMPING PRESS SET UP TECH

Set up and repair of tool and dies for production. Performs tool changes. Performs first piece inspections before start of production run and hourly visual checks to assure quality of product. Prepares spare parts using various machines and hand tools. Study specifications such as blueprints and sketches necessary to set up tools. Use of various machine and hand tools to modify and or repair tooling. Examine standard or previously used dies and tooling components and recommend design modifications regarding construction and functionality. Maintain equipment through cleaning and preventive maintenance. Operates presses and material handling equipment if necessary.

Job Requirements:


High School Diploma and or machining classes preferred.

Mechanically inclined. Detail oriented.
Knowledge of DIN and ISO tolerances (Standard and Metric).
Knowledge of manual machining on mills, grinders and lathes.
Ability to lift heavy parts up to 40 lbs.
Independent worker.

  • DIE MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

 The metal stamping Die Maintenance Technician applies sound processes and procedures to coordinate die changes, sets up, troubleshoots and maintains progressive dies and transfer tooling. Examines dies and tooling components and recommends design modifications regarding construction and functionality. Modifies or repairs existing tooling and progressive dies. Applies root cause analysis to tooling breakages and premature failures. Verifies conformance of machined and stamped parts to specifications through the use of calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, height gauges, etc. Inspects product and makes die adjustments accordingly. May operate stamping presses.

Job Requirements:


Apprenticeship or vocational training for Tool Maker and/or Die Maintenance

5+ years of metal stamping experience
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Experienced in tooling maintenance and repair including progressive, transfer and/or draw tooling
CAD knowledge advantageous (SolidWorks)
Good communication skills
Interacts effectively with others
Ability to work independently
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Shift flexibility and willingness to work overtime

 

  • TOOL MAKER / MACHINIST

The Tool Maker / Machinist plans, devises, and fabricates various tools, dies, gauges, jigs, and fixtures to precise specifications. Sets up, operates conventional and CNC machine tools while applying knowledge of tool design, shop mathematics, metal properties and assembly procedures. Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines needed to fabricate tooling. Sets up and operates machine tools such as, but not limited to, lathes, manual mills, grinders, saws, etc. Operates CNC mill, wire and RAM EDM equipment. Creates CNC programs with CAM Software (Gibbs Cam and Bob Cad a plus). Verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications through the use of calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, height gauges, etc. Operates from detailed blueprints yet able to conceptualize and fabricate specialty tooling and fixtures. Has working knowledge of metal characteristics and properties including heat-treating, geometric tolerances, and DIN and ISO tolerances (Standard and Metric).

5 years of precision tool making (minimum)

Set up and operation of various machine tools
CNC mill
EDM (wire or sinker)
Lathes
Conventional milling and grinding machines
Knowledge of tool design, shop mathematics and metal properties
